OMEN 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop PC 15-en1000 (2L1F2AV)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an issue with sudden fps drops and voice shuttering for 3-5 seconds since i have owned the laptop. It happens independently of the work i do on the laptop. It happens on youtube, netflix or casual works and of course  when i m gaming too.I have managed to take a screen recording while fps drops and shuttering going on.  And apply for the service with screen recordings i had. They checked my drivers first and everything was perfect. And they accepted to take laptop in service.  Service changed mainboard. In the end of the story i have still same problem. I think omen just broken.

Hi @nvzt,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

It must be incredibly frustrating dealing with these constant FPS drops and voice stuttering, especially after going through service and still facing the same issue.

  • Do you notice any spikes in CPU or GPU usage during the FPS drops or stuttering? This could give us clues about what's happening when the issue occurs.
  • Are you using the laptop plugged in with the power performance mode set to high, or do you experience the issue even on battery?
  • Have you monitored the temperature of the CPU or GPU? High temperatures can throttle performance, causing these drops.

Let’s try a few more steps to dig deeper into what might be going on and get your OMEN laptop running smoothly.

Thermal Throttling Check:

  • Install monitoring software like HWMonitor or OMEN Gaming Hub to check your CPU and GPU temperatures.
  • If temperatures are high (80°C or above), it could be thermal throttling. Make sure vents are clear and the laptop is on a flat surface for proper airflow.

Update/Check Power Settings:

  • Go to Control Panel > Power Options and set it to High Performance or Ultimate Performance mode. Ensure the power plan isn't limiting your CPU or GPU performance.
  • In OMEN Gaming Hub, check the Performance Control settings to make sure the laptop is set to Performance mode while gaming or doing intensive tasks.

Clean Boot:

  • Try running your laptop in Clean Boot mode to see if third-party software is causing the issue.
  • Type msconfig in the search bar > System Configuration > Services tab > check Hide all Microsoft services, then click Disable all. Restart and test to see if the stuttering persists.

NVIDIA Control Panel Settings:

  • Open the NVIDIA Control Panel and under Manage 3D Settings, set the Power Management Mode to Prefer Maximum Performance.
  • Ensure the Preferred Graphics Processor is set to the NVIDIA GPU for high-performance tasks to avoid automatic switching to the integrated GPU.

Reinstall Drivers (Clean Install):

  • Even though service checked your drivers, I recommend doing a clean install of your NVIDIA drivers. Use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) in Safe Mode to completely remove the drivers, then reinstall the latest version from the NVIDIA website.

I know this process is tiring, especially after service intervention, but there’s hope we can pinpoint the issue. Let me know if you notice anything from these steps.

Keep me posted for further assistance
