Microsoft Windows 11

My HP Victus laptop initially charged to 100%, but it wouldn’t turn on without being plugged in. After that, it worked normally for some time. However, over time, the issue worsened.

Now, even when it is plugged in, the laptop shuts down automatically without any warning.

Hi @Siddharthkushwa,

Welcome to HP Support Community!

We noticed that this thread hasn't had any updates in a while since your original post; while this is rare, we didn't want this post to remain unanswered, so, here's the solution to your query. We hope it helps you and everyone viewing this post 😊

If your HP Victus 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fb0000 is experiencing charging and power issues, such as shutting down unexpectedly or not working without being plugged in even when fully charged, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and possibly resolve the problem:

  1. Check the Power Adapter and Battery Connection:

    • Ensure that the power adapter is connected securely to both the laptop and the power outlet.
    • Inspect the power cable and adapter for any visible damage.
    • Check if the battery is properly seated in its compartment.
  2. Calibrate the Battery:

    • Fully charge the laptop battery and then use the laptop on battery power until it fully discharges.
    • Recharge the battery and repeat this a few times to recalibrate the battery.
  3. Update Battery Drivers:

    • Go to Device Manager by right-clicking the Start button and selecting 'Device Manager'.
    • Expand the 'Batteries' section and right-click 'Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery'.
    • Select 'Update driver' and follow the on-screen instructions.
  4. Run HP Support Assistant:

    • Use HP Support Assistant to check for any issues related to the battery and get guided resolutions.
    • You can download and install it from the HP Support Assistant website.
  5. Perform a Battery Test:

    • In HP Support Assistant, navigate to the Battery section to perform a battery test and view the battery status.
  6. Check for Windows Updates:

    • Ensure that your system is updated with the latest Windows updates, as they may contain fixes for battery and power management issues.
  7. Check Power Settings:

    • Navigate to the 'Control Panel' > 'Power Options' and review your current power plan settings. Ensure they are properly configured.
