@shreynagpaldpsg, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
sounds like you're dealing with a couple of hardware/driver issues on your HP Victus laptop running Windows 11. Let’s walk through each problem one at a time.
🎤 Mic Not Working (Not Detecting Input)
Step 1: Check if mic is enabled
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Go to System > Sound.
- Under Input, see if any microphone is listed,
If it's grayed out or says "No input devices found", continue to the driver fix below. - Try tapping or speaking into the mic—check if the volume meter reacts.
Step 2: Privacy permissions
- Go to Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone.
- Make sure Microphone access is turned On.
- Also, make sure apps you want to use (like Zoom, Teams, etc.) have permission.
Step 3: Update/reinstall mic drivers
- Press Windows + X → Choose Device Manager.
- Expand Audio inputs and outputs.
- Right-click on the microphone device (could say “Microphone Array” or similar) → Click Uninstall device.
- After uninstalling, Restart your PC—Windows should auto-reinstall the driver.
💡 Brightness Not Changing
Step 1: Check brightness keys
Try adjusting brightness using Fn + F3/F4 (depending on your keyboard layout). If no response, it could be a driver issue.
Step 2: Check Windows settings
- Go to Settings > System > Display.
- Try moving the Brightness slider — does it change anything?
If not…
Step 3: Reinstall Display/Graphics driver
- Press Windows + X → Choose Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click on the graphics adapter (e.g., AMD Radeon / NVIDIA / Intel) → Click Uninstall device.
- Check “Delete the driver software for this device” (if available) → Uninstall.
- Restart your PC.
After restart, Windows will reinstall a default driver. You can later install the latest official GPU drivers from:
- HP Drivers for your Victus 15 (598U8AV)
- Or from AMD/NVIDIA/Intel directly depending on your GPU.
🔄 Optional: HP Support Assistant
If you haven’t already, install HP Support Assistant – it can automatically detect issues and install missing or outdated drivers.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
