OMEN by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-wf1000 (8X3Y6AV)

When using Windows 11 (23H2), the 'Auto Manage App Colors' (ACM) feature could be enabled from the 'Advanced Display' settings, but after upgrading to (24H2), I can no longer find this option. And adding the registry key does not work.

Because of this issue, users with the Omen 16 are unable to properly use the 'Blender' program. Even without enabling the ACM, if the 'NVIDIA Optimus' is turned off, Blender works, so users have been disabling 'NVIDIA Optimus' to use Blender.

Additionally, in Unity, projects that run with DX12 by enabling the 'Auto Graphics API for Windows' setting or projects created with HDRP do not launch properly. However, if 'NVIDIA Optimus' is disabled, they run without any issues.

Hi @CCGames, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Sounds like Windows 11 (24H2) pulled a disappearing act on the Auto Manage App Colors feature—now you see it, now you don’t! 🎩 But don’t worry, we’re on the case!

Here’s the scoop:
🎨 ACM Gone Missing? Microsoft seems to have "redecorated" the settings, and unfortunately, the registry key workaround isn't bringing it back. Since this is affecting multiple users, we may need to wait for a future update or hotfix. In the meantime, check Control Panel > Color Management, select your display, and enable "Use my settings for this device" to see if it helps stabilize colors.

🎮 Blender and Unity vs. NVIDIA Optimus: You’ve already figured out that disabling NVIDIA Optimus lets both programs run smoothly. Optimus is great for battery life, but when it starts playing tug-of-war with your apps, it’s time to step in. You can try setting Blender and Unity to always use the dedicated NVIDIA GPU under NVIDIA Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings—this might let you keep Optimus on while still running your creative masterpieces.

🛠 Other Fixes to Try:
🔹 Driver Check – Make sure both your NVIDIA and Intel graphics drivers are up to date (yes, even the sneaky Intel one).
🔹 Windows Graphics Settings – Go to Settings > System > Display > Graphics and set Blender and Unity to High Performance (NVIDIA GPU).
🔹 DirectX 12 Issues? –Check if there are DX12 problems post-update. If needed, switch the project to DX11 and see if that smooths things out.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
