Hi,

I have the same question. I'd like to replace the original paste with Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut. When I first bought it, it was ice cool even running at high capacity.  After two years, it's getting hot at the number pad area, though still cool on the bottom side of the laptop.  I hope by replacing the thermal paste would solve the problem.  Just need to know whether my laptop use ALUMINUM heatsink.  OR  whether it's compatible with the above Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut past.

Thank you.

And another question: Can I upgrade my current 16gb RAM to 24 or 32gb RAM? Is it doable?

Mine laptop model: OMEN by HP Laptop PC 15-ax010ca

16GB RAM

Intel i7-6700HQ@2.6Ghz

Windows 10

Greetings!

Thanks for being a part of the HP Community. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries. I have reviewed your post and I understand, you are trying to replace the thermal paste and add more RAM.

I have checked the specifications and you have 16 GB of RAM installed on the computer which is also the maximum RAM supported by this computer.

To know more, please refer to the page#4 for the service guide.

Here's the part# of the Heat Sink - 856668-001. This information is on the page#22 of the same service guide.

HP does not recommend the users to replace the "Thermal Paste" on their own. Please contact the phone support for more details -

1) Click on this link – www.hp.com/contacthp/
2) Select the product type.
3) Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.
4) Select the country from the drop-down.
5) You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
