Hello, I recently bought an HP Omen 16 laptop about a month ago. However I can't get the touchpad to work. I've tried installing the latest drivers, updating my windows and I've ran the component test that HP provides. The touchpad just won't work. What can I do?

Hi @SophieB04,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
I understand that you are having issues with the touchpad.
I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your touchpad. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:
1. Enable Touchpad
- Press Fn + F12 or the specific key combination for your laptop to enable the touchpad.
- Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad and ensure the touchpad is turned on.
2. Check Touchpad Settings in BIOS
- Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS setup (usually by pressing F10, Esc, or Delete during boot).
- Navigate to the System Configuration tab.
- Check if the touchpad is enabled. If not, enable it and save the changes.
3. Update Touchpad Driver
- Go to Device Manager (press Windows key + X and select Device Manager).
- Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
- Right-click on your touchpad driver and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
- If this doesn't work, go to the HP Support website and download the latest touchpad driver specific to your laptop model.
4. Reinstall Touchpad Driver
- In Device Manager, right-click on the touchpad driver and select Uninstall device.
- Restart your laptop, and Windows should automatically reinstall the touchpad driver.
5. Check for Windows Updates
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Check for updates and install any available updates.
Kindly check the next steps in the next post.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @SophieB04,
Please find the next steps.
6. Run HP Diagnostics
- Run the HP Hardware Diagnostics UEFI. Restart your laptop and press F2 repeatedly during boot.
- Select Component Tests > Touchpad and run the test.
7. External Interference
- Disconnect any external devices (like a mouse) to see if they are causing conflicts.
- Check if the touchpad works in Safe Mode. Restart your laptop and press F8 during boot, then select Safe Mode.
8. Reset Touchpad Settings
- Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad and click on Reset to default settings.
9. System Restore
- If the touchpad recently stopped working after an update or installation, perform a System Restore to a point when it was working. Go to Control Panel > System and Security > System > System Protection and select System Restore.
If none of the above steps work, you may need to contact HP Phone Support for further assistance as it could be a hardware issue.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
