Does your laptop battery charge only when the laptop is turned off? Click here to view the solution

  • I purchased an HP Victus 15 FB1013DX laptop year ago, but  experienced an issue with the trackpad from the day one. I was unable to report earlier due to some reasons. The trackpad often feels sticky and gets stuck when pressed from certain angles, especially around the corners. This makes it uncomfortable and unreliable to use. I have already tried basic troubleshooting such as cleaning the edges, checking alignment, and updating drivers, but the problem persists. Since this seems to be a hardware or alignment issue, I would like HP’s assistance in that case.

@AALYAN, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding trackpad getting stuck at some angle!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I'm sorry to hear about the trackpad issues with your HP Victus 15 FB1013DX laptop. Here are some steps you can consider to resolve the problem:

Hardware Check: Make sure there isn't any physical obstruction or debris underneath the trackpad. Sometimes small particles can cause the trackpad to stick.

Driver Update: Verify that the latest touchpad drivers are installed. You can check HP's official website for drivers specific to your model or use Windows Updates.

Synaptics Settings: If your laptop uses Synaptics drivers, check the touchpad settings. Sometimes adjusting sensitivity and gestures can make a difference.

Software Issues: It could be worthwhile to check if any software updates or background running programs might be affecting the touchpad performance.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

@AALYAN, Thank you for clarifying that the issue has been there since the beginning. I can imagine how annoying it must feel when your trackpad doesn’t press smoothly every time. Let’s try a few things you can do at home before we talk about a service option:

1. Gentle Cleaning & Check
Run a soft microfiber cloth along the edges of the trackpad. Even a tiny piece of dust or uneven plastic trim can cause sticking. Also, check if the trackpad looks flush with the palm rest — no uneven gaps.

2. Driver Reinstallation

Open Device ManagerMice and other pointing devices.

Right-click the touchpad driver and choose Uninstall.

Restart your laptop and Windows will reinstall the correct driver automatically.
(This helps if the driver isn’t syncing with hardware properly.)

3. HP Diagnostics Test
Press F2 while starting up the laptop to enter HP Hardware Diagnostics → Run the Touchpad Test. This will confirm if the system detects any hardware failure.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
