Hi there,
I would like to upgrade the SSD storage for my pavilion laptop EC1512-AX ryzen 7. Currently the SSD storage is 256GB which I am looking to upgrade atleast to 1 TB (2TB SSD would be best). (It also has 1TB HDD, but I would like it to be as is).
I want to understand, how it actually works.
1. Could HP service centers help me with the upgrade of ssd?
2. If yes then: how much would it cost? As I will be returning 256 GB to HP, should I expect some discount on that front?
3. if No then: how does it impact the warranty? Also, how can I get the genuine Windows license again. (I have fair idea that Windows keeps digital activations these days, but in case anything goes wrong)
4. How will this upgrade impact the warranty?
In any case, I would like all of data from my previous SSD to be transferred to new SSD along with OS files. As by the time I go for upgrade, I would have installed a lot of programs/applications in the system.
Thanks

I think your machine is an HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-ec1512AX, its specs
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c07595442
It has
- 256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ TLC M.2 SSD
- 1 TB 7200 rpm SATA HDD
- 1 & 2: You have to get a quote DIRECTLY from service centers in your country.
- 3 & 4: Warranty is a grey/gray area very hard to say in concrete. For new generation machines, adding something or fixing something is a work for Authorized Service Provider parts . You can add yourself. If something went wrong due to this upgrade, I think HP would not honor warranty.
Hope this makes sense.
Yes, You can transfer all files/data and programs from old SSD to new SSD
Regards.
