Hello,
I've recently bought a HP OMEN 15-dc0010nq and would like to add another 8GB RAM and a SSD drive.
I ran a compatibility check for the laptop on crucial.com ( http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP-Compaq/hp-omen-15-dc0010nq#memoryResults ) and it recommended me the following RAM memory, which it's ok by me:
- Crucial Ballistix Sport LT SO-DIMM, 1x8GB, DDR4, 2666MHz, CL16, 1.2V
As for the SSD part, the only available slot is M.2, but i can't find any info on which type of interface should the SSD drive be. I would like to buy a SATA III drive, because i don't need the speed or the latencys offered by the PCIe x2, PCIe x4 or the PCI NVMe, but i don't know if the laptop supports SATA III ssd drives.
Can anyone help?

When you get the Sata M.2 drive, it will have two slots. You will be able to install it either way the configuration is on the slot port on the motherboard by flipping if over if needed.

Hello @Comy
The manual states page 4...
Support M.2 PCIe/SATA SSD - customer accessible/upgradeable
So you can use Sata if you wish. HP only used PCIe in the builds though.
Page 40 explains how to access the drives.

Hello Photoray002
I saw the manual, but it doesn't say anything about the socket edge connector (if it's a "B key edge connector that is 6 pins wide or a "M key edge connector that is 5 pins wide). I'm not very familiar with the M.2 slot and this is my first time buying this type of SSD and i don't know if what I'm asking is important or if the edge connector doesn't matter. I just don't want to find myself in the situation to have bought an SSD that doesn't fit in the socket. 🙂
Thank you

Also, look and see if the M.2 screw is there. If not, there might be a sticky tape strip to attach it to.
You can order a screw separately also.
M.2 hard drive screws can be googled and are sold at most parts stores and amazon.
