Makes sense, thanks for the article.
So here’s the update, for anyone who happens to read this from a google search. the crucial ram does indeed work. This means the standard crucial ram, not “Ballistix.” However, I may try the Ballistix someday, amazon has a good return policy so I’ll be getting the money back for the Kingston soon. Ballistix is on crucials compatible list, but it’s XMP ram so I was nervous to try it regardless.
Theres a slight difference in speed with the new SSD and 16GB of ram, but not a ton like you suggested there wouldn’t be.
I am happy with the upgrades though, the extra ram seems to be helping when I have a ton of browser tabs going.
as fo HPs recovery USB drive, worked great but I still had to update all the drivers to the latest version, it installed all old versions oddly. So in future it may be easier to do a clean windows install and then install the latest drivers manually.
