Recently, the laptop has been displaying

a persistent HP Battery Alert during startup, stating that the primary battery is weak.

Additionally, the battery drains so quickly that I am unable to use the device without it being plugged in. The HP Hardware Diagnostics Battery Test also confirms that the primary battery is weak and may be affected by aging.

While I understand that batteries degrade over time, it is quite concerning that this issue has arisen so early in the device’s lifecycle—especially since I have used the laptop carefully and am not a heavy user. A laptop battery, under normal usage, should reasonably last around 3 to 4 years, and this premature failure seems highly unusual.

For your information, the device is no longer under standard warranty, but I believe this situation merits special attention. Interestingly, after performing a full system reset, the battery functioned normally for four days, and the diagnostic showed no issues. However, the alert returned shortly afterward, indicating an intermittent fault or hardware degradation that is not due to user handling.

I have attached the following for your reference:

Screenshots of the HP Battery Alert and test results.

Hi @Amal43,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for providing detailed information and diagnostic results regarding the battery performance of your HP Victus 15-fa1124tx. We understand how concerning it can be to experience early battery degradation, especially with careful and moderate use.

To help isolate whether the issue is related to firmware, hardware, or battery calibration, we recommend performing the following key steps.

Step 1: BIOS Restore:
1) Shut down the computer, keep the charger plugged in

2) Hold down the Windows and B buttons together while the computer is still turned off.

3) Turn on the computer and continue to hold the Windows and B buttons until a BIOS Recovery screen appears.

4) Follow the on-screen instructions and click on OK.

Step 2: Run HP Battery Test Using HP Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI)

Please perform a battery test outside of the Windows environment to get the most accurate results:

  1. Fully shut down the laptop.
  2. Power it back on and immediately press Esc repeatedly, then press F2 for System Diagnostics.
  3. Select Component Tests > Power > Battery Test.
  4. Allow the test to complete and note the battery status, capacity, and result (e.g., Passed / Weak / Replace).

If the test result indicates "Weak" or "Replace", the battery is nearing or has reached the end of its expected life.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
