Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

Recently I was given an HP 255 G8 Notebook PC and I want to upgrade its SSD with WD_BLACK  SN850X With Heatsink 2TB M.2 NVMe PCI Express 4.0. So, the question is if this SSD fits into the notebook.

Thank you

Hi:

I doubt it will fit with the heatsink.

Also, the 255 G8's NVMe slot is only PCIe Gen 3.0, so the Gen 4.0 SSD will not run at its maximum advertised read/write speeds.

There is no service manual for the 255 G8 for some reason and that wouldn't provide any clearance information.

You can refer to the G7 or G9 which probably are pretty similar to help you with opening the notebook to see if the drive would fit.
