Hi@PankajN

HyperV is causing BSOD issue, windows 10 home edition needs to be upgraded to windows 10 pro & that will fix the issue

HP  doesn't support HYperV for information contact Microsoft .

Hope that answers your question and you have a great day!

Actually @Praveenbv answer is misleading. If you search deep for the issue you will see that the problem lies with the Realtek Network drivers and the problem ultimately is solved through a bios update that HP has already provided for some devices. For my device HP omen 15 -4800h/rtx2060 the bios that solved this issue was F.12-01/26/2021 through windows update HP Inc. - Firmware - 15.12.0.0.
Further more WSL2 can work on windows home editions and this issue won't be resolved even if you upgrade to windows pro. It's a driver/bios related issue and upgrade to windows pro will not help.

@ReMi0s,

My sincere apologies i believe the drivers were up to date hence i had recommended you to upgrade the windows. This was a part of troubleshooting & we were in the initial stage. Glad that the issue is fixed. Keep us posted for any queries in the future.

Is telling the customer to purchase a $200 product really the initial stage of troubleshooting?

Well it seems it's just a few number of people in here from HP and some bots with automated answers. Yes HyperV is not fully supported by windows home but this is not the cause of the problem here, since Virtualization Platform can be enabled in windows home and WSL2 is supported. You can have docker/ virtual box / linux kernel installed on windows home via WSL2/Virtualization Platform without any trouble at all. My PC is a windows home machine and i run all these without any trouble now.
Throwing the fault to Microsoft and an expensive (150€) upgrade can help taking the heat out a 6 page post with a lot people having problem, because most people around the forum are not tech savy enough, won't spend more money and they eventually will give up.

Truth is that this is not only an HP problem but other companies had encountered BSODs related to WSL2/Virtualization. It is at all fixable within windows home environment and  a bios update is needed.
The confusion is that HP doesn't yet support the bios update through their support assistant or driver website, and it is eventually pushed into devices through Windows Updates.

I hope they will resolve this problem for every model, because many of us do not just buy these laptops just for gaming but for professional use as well.

HP has to level up their support game and actually listen to the problems their customers have instead of giving scripted answers.

Until then if you have HP omen 15 4800h ryzen laptop BIOS F12. (Windows Update "HP Inc. - Firmware - 15.12.0.0") will fix this specific problem.  I suggest others that have resolved the issue with other laptop models to report as well, so other people know how to fix it.

P.S. I can see the confusion since the title of the post contains Hyper-V while it's not related. The BSODs are when you enable the Virtual Machine Platform, and are related to the LAN REALTEK ADAPTER and current BIOS.

P.S.2. PankanjN has already wrote on 3rd post "I purchased windows 10 pro license just to get these features and now my hardware is not capable which makes me sad."  It is normal that if the support is only few people, they won't read carefully every single post.

Kudos to you for mentioning this 🙂 Other manufacturers support and you dont. You just got a loss of customers who are developers out there. Congratulations.

Also for your information, WSL2 is related to Virtualization Platform - which is supported on Windows Home.

Hi! I have the same problem with my OMEN 15-en0014np. I see some people with OMEN 15 4800H RTX2060 (is it a different model from mine, tho? the specs are the same however) having a 15.12.0 firmware on Windows Update. I don't see any new update, the installed one is 15.07.0 (F.07), which is bugged. Can someone from HP tell me when is the new BIOS update coming for my model? Thanks!

Welcome to the club of frustrated individuals who bought HP OMEN and Pavillion 15 series with AMD Ryzen processors.

Considering the factor that new bios for Pavillion 15 made the laptop stable. I assume there would be new version of HP OMEN firmwire to be available soon.  Try creating it a new POST, for early assistance.
