Hi @Darkord2820,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Experiencing crashes while trying to play games on your HP laptop can be frustrating. Several factors can contribute to this issue, including hardware and software problems. Let's go through some troubleshooting steps to help you identify and potentially resolve the problem.

Update Graphics Drivers: Outdated or incompatible graphics drivers can cause crashes. Visit the official website of your graphics card manufacturer (NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel) and download the latest drivers for your GPU model.

Update Windows and Drivers: Make sure your operating system is up to date, as Windows updates can include important fixes for various issues. Also, check for updates for other drivers, such as sound drivers and chipset drivers, from HP's official support website.

Check System Requirements: Verify that your laptop meets the minimum system requirements for the game. If your hardware falls short, it might struggle to run the game, leading to crashes.

Close Background Applications: Some background applications might interfere with the game, causing crashes. Close unnecessary applications before launching the game to free up system resources.

Adjust Graphics Settings: Lower the graphics settings in the game to reduce the strain on your hardware. Lowering resolution, texture quality, and other graphics settings can often help improve stability.

Check for Overheating: High temperatures can lead to crashes. Install software that allows you to monitor your laptop's temperature while gaming. If it's running too hot, consider cleaning the laptop's cooling system or using a cooling pad.

Verify Game Files: If you're using a platform like Steam, use its built-in option to verify the integrity of the game files. Corrupted files can cause crashes.

Disable Overclocking: If you have overclocked your GPU or CPU, revert to their default settings. Overclocking can make your system unstable during demanding tasks like gaming.

Update DirectX: Ensure you have the latest version of DirectX installed, as many games require it to run correctly.

Perform a Clean Boot: To check if third-party applications are causing conflicts, perform a clean boot of your system and try running the game.

Check for Game Patches: Check the game's official website or the platform from which you purchased the game for any available patches or updates that might address crash issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
