Jnasch, did they offer to send you a Recovery USB too?

How is sending a recovery USB defined as "progress" in solving this issue?

Dont understand that statement.

To the fellow who said his fan is working just fine.

My fan is running too, but extremely slowly, and not enough to do any real cooling.

I suspect is the case for for that fellow also.

pnj: That's exactly what I said... Read my post

re, it being exactly what you said.  Well...yes.

Yeah I stated the fan issues quite clearly in my reply after that one. The only time the fans spin up higher than their absolute lowest RPM is upon initial startup at the UEFI splash screen, and whenever I wake the system from sleep.

Beyond that, the fans never reach higher RPMs than say, about 300-400,. No fan controller is detected by any hardware monitoring application either.

This fan issue was nonexistent in the preview builds but I don't understand how there is STILL no fix for this. This is a HUGE hardware failure, on a flagship machine, going unanswered for 5 days. I understand development strains when you have as many products as a company like HP, but 5 days without a fix for hardware issues that makes a gaming laptop nothing more than an expensive aluminum paperweight is ridiculous.

pnj, I deem it as "progessive" because I took the measures needed to find a resolution to my problem. Yes, while I might not be able to use Windows 10 with my Omen pc and I think HP could have done better job on the fore front, I would much prefer going back to stock and having a fully functional pc.

I'm thinking of falling back to the last preview build before the release build just so I can game again without worry. I can't give up 10 now that I've been on it for so long. Will be making Linux my primary yet again until this is resolved.

While is very nice of them to send a recovery USB, it's really giving refrigerators to eskimos, since you can always return to factory state just by accessing the recovery partition, no USB stick needed (altho yes it's nice to have one). But in any event, that hardly deal with this issue of no support for w10, or very little.

ShruikaN, I will post the results of my downgrade once I have the USB in my hands in 2 days time. It is disappointing that it has come down to this, but I also take some responsiblity in my actions of wiping the Windows.old file before really trying things out.
