It is second time around I am getting this annoying Windows Update Error 0x80080005. I first got this when I clean installed my brand new HP OMEN 15 2018 to remove bloatware and for some reason I accidentally downloaded or opened suspicious sites or files causing the to corrupt my System Files.
Now that I am aware of my first problem and have done re-clean install, I assured now that I would be no longer open unknown files from internet to avoid getting malware. But despite of being extremely careful in using my gaming laptop, I still got this for the second time without knowing the cause. Please see attached photo for your reference.

Let's try resetting the software distribution folder
Please disconnect from the Internet and restart the Notebook. Ensure WiFi is disabled and no wired connection. If you don't, Windows 10 will indicate some files are in use and cannot be modified or the command will be non-responsive.
1. Press Windows Key + X on the keyboard and then select “Command Prompt (Admin)” from the menu.
2. Stop the BITS, Cryptographic, MSI Installer and the Windows Update Services. To do this, type the following commands at a command prompt. Press the “ENTER” key after you type each command.
net stop wuauserv
net stop cryptSvc
net stop bits
net stop msiserver
3. Now rename the SoftwareDistribution and Catroot2 folder. You can do this by typing the following commands in the Command Prompt. Press the “ENTER” key after you type each command.
ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 Catroot2.old
4. Now, let’s restart the BITS, Cryptographic, MSI Installer and the Windows Update Services. Typethe following commands in the Command Prompt for this. Press the ENTER key after you type each command.
net start wuauserv
net start cryptSvc
net start bits
net start msiserver
5. Type Exit in the Command Prompt to close it and then restart the computer.
Have a great day 😊

Since you are unable to install Apps from Windows Store, try these steps
- Update Microsoft Store: Select the Start button > Microsoft Store . Select See more > Downloads and updates > Get updates. If an update for Microsoft Store is available, it will start installing automatically.
- Repair and reset the app: Select the Start button > Settings > Apps > Apps & features. Select the app that's not working, and then select Advanced options. On the page that opens with information about the app, select Repair. (Note: Some apps don't have this option.) If repairing the app doesn't fix the problem, select Reset.
- Uninstall and reinstall the app: Select the Start button. In the list of apps, right-click the one that's not working, select Uninstall, and select Uninstall again to confirm. To reinstall the app, select the Start button > Microsoft Store > See more > My Library > Apps. Then select the app you want to reinstall, and select Install.
- Try running the troubleshooter for Microsoft Store apps. Select the Start button > Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Windows Store Apps.
- If you can't find Microsoft Store, see Trouble finding Microsoft Store in Windows 10. If you're having trouble launching Microsoft Store, see Microsoft Store doesn't launch. If you can launch the Microsoft Store but you are just having trouble finding or installing an app, see I can't find or install an app from Microsoft Store

If the issue persists, I suggest you perform a System Recovery back to original Factory Settings
Thank you 😊
