I recently purchased an HP Omen laptop in India, which includes a 1-month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. The offer appears in the “Included with this device” section of the Microsoft Store, but I did not receive a separate code.
However, when I attempt to redeem it, I receive the following error:
“Incorrect region. You are trying to purchase from an incorrect region. You'll need to update your settings to purchase from the correct region.”
To clarify:
My Microsoft account region is set to India.
My Windows laptop region and time zone are also set to India.
I have not used any VPN.
The device was purchased and is being used entirely within India.
I contacted Microsoft support, and they confirmed the issue is related to the Game Pass bundle being linked to the device and advised me to contact HP directly as the issuer.

Hi @Ishaan101
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
It’s frustrating when a bundled offer doesn’t work as expected, especially when everything is set up correctly on your end. Since Microsoft has confirmed that the issue is related to the Game Pass bundle being linked to the device, here are some steps you can try:
Troubleshooting Steps
Verify Your Microsoft Account Region
- Go to Microsoft Account Settings.
- Ensure your Country/Region is set to India.
- If it’s incorrect, update it and restart your laptop.
Check Windows Region Settings
- Open Settings > Time & Language > Language & Region.
- Ensure Country or Region is set to India.
- Restart your laptop after making changes.
Clear Microsoft Store Cache
- Open Command Prompt (Win + R, type cmd, and press Enter).
- Type wsreset.exe and press Enter.
- This will reset the Microsoft Store cache.
Try Redeeming via Browser
- Instead of using the Microsoft Store app, try redeeming the offer via Xbox’s website.
Check Payment Method Region
- If you have a payment method linked, ensure it matches your Microsoft account region.
- Some users have reported that UPI-based payments can cause region mismatches.
