Microsoft Windows 11

The hinge on my laptop has cracked, this seems to be a well know issue however even though my computer is still under warranty i am being told that its not covered.

Could i get an explaination on why an obvious defect is not being covered under warranty?

Hi @christine428,

Welcome back to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

Here's an explanation for why the cracked hinge might not be covered under warranty:

Physical Damage: HP's standard warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship, but physical damage, such as a cracked hinge, is usually classified as accidental damage or due to wear and tear, which are not covered under the regular warranty.

The cracked hinge is not part of a known manufacturing defect or a widespread issue for your specific model, it may be seen as an isolated incident. In such cases, the repair is considered outside warranty coverage.

For further assistance, I recommend you contact phone support.

To claim this isn't a known issue or defect when HP has multiple class action lawsuits against them for this exact issue and this forum is full of complaints for this exact issue is business at its worst, congrats you've lost a customer for life.
