The camera only show bleached out picture with very light blue and white

The issue where your camera only shows a bleached-out picture with very light blue and white usually points to either a hardware or software problem. It could be caused by incorrect   SunPass white balance settings, a failed camera sensor calibration, or a driver/app glitch if you are using an external or phone camera. First, try restarting the device and checking camera settings such as exposure, filters, or color balance. If the problem persists, test the camera in another app to rule out software issues. If it still appears washed out, the camera sensor itself may be damaged or malfunctioning and might need repair or replacement.

Hi @RICKWH,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand how  it must be to have your camera showing washed-out images after upgrading to Windows 11.

Could you please share the exact HP laptop or desktop model you’re using, and whether this issue happens across all apps (like Camera, Teams, Zoom) or just one?

Here are a few  steps you can try:

01.Check Camera App Settings

Sometimes brightness or HDR settings inside the Camera app cause overexposed images.

Open Camera app → Settings (gear icon)

Reset camera settings to default

Turn off HDR or filters if enabled

02.Update Camera Driver

Windows updates can cause driver mismatches.

Go to Device Manager → Cameras → [Your Camera] → Update driver

Select Search automatically for drivers

If no update is found, visit HP Support site for your model

03.Roll Back Driver

If the issue started right after Windows 11 update, the newer driver may be incompatible.

Device Manager → Cameras → [Your Camera] → Properties → Driver tab

Click Roll Back Driver if available

04.Check Windows Updates

Microsoft often releases patches for hardware compatibility.

Go to Settings → Windows Update → Check for updates

Install pending updates

Restart your PC after updates

05.Test in Another App

Helps confirm if the issue is app-specific or system-wide.

Try using Zoom, Teams, or Skype

If the issue persists everywhere, it’s likely driver-related

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
