HP Omen 15-dc0013no Black
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello!

I purchased a HP Omen 15-dc0013no Black laptop sometime ago, upon arrival it has 512gb m.2 ssd in to my knowledge, I however find that 512gb in todays world is not enough for a device which I play games on or do graphical work such as 3D modelling.

I have tried looking everywhere but cannot really get a clear answer if there is a slot for additional ssd in this laptop and if there is, how large can the memory amount be (to have it supported by the motherboard?)

I really don't want to open the laptop without a reason to avoid having warranty unnecessarily nullified or anything like that.

Looking to add just typical ssd, not another m.2, if anyone knows and could let me know, it would be very appreciated.

Thank you

Its specs

   https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06085656

which is very close to my machine (also has  NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1070 (8 GB GDDR5 dedicated))

   https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06095817

My machine has dual storage (M.2 SSD and 2.5" HDD). Yes, you can add 2.5" SSD drive to your machine using

             https://www.crucial.com/products/ssd/crucial-mx500-ssd

             https://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/minisite/ssd/product/consumer/860evo/

       Or similar from reputable vendors.
One example (compatible drive, can use smaller/larger capacity)

                          https://www.crucial.com/ssd/mx500/ct2000mx500ssd1/ct13447362

 But you need 2 parts

  1. Hard drive cable connector part # 929450-001
  2. Hard drive brackets part # 929561-001

You can buy from

or use part # and search elsewhere.

Regards.

Thanks for the reply.

I looked at the same specs page and the page from retailer I bought the laptop from which is to my knowledge it should have a m.2 in there, sadly that page wasn't clear about being able to add the 2.5 ssd.

However since you have almost identical laptop, I'd guess since they are pretty much the same in structure.

Big thanks for letting me know about the cable and brackets being needed, that is going to save me from an annoying surpise.
