Hi @nico1111,

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're stoked to have you on board!

To help us get started on resolving your issue, could you please share the model name of your device?

Meanwhile, you can try these steps:

Check for Background Applications:

  • Some applications running in the background may cause performance issues. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager and check for any high CPU or memory usage by applications.

Disable Filter Keys:

  • Windows Filter Keys features might be enabled, causing slow keyboard response.
  • Go to Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard.
  • Make sure that the "Filter Keys" option is turned off.

Update or Reinstall Keyboard Drivers:

  • Sometimes drivers can become outdated or corrupt.
  • Press Windows + X, select Device Manager.
  • Expand Keyboards, right-click on your keyboard driver, and select Update Driver.
  • If that doesn’t work, try uninstalling the driver and restarting your laptop. Windows will reinstall it automatically.

Check Game Settings:

  • Some games have settings that alter input behavior. Check the in-game settings for any options related to input or hardware acceleration that may affect responsiveness.

Scan for Malware:

  • Malware can cause performance issues. Use Windows Defender or a trusted antivirus program to conduct a full system scan.

Test in Safe Mode:

  • Boot into Safe Mode to determine if background applications are causing the problem.
  • Restart your computer, and as it starts, repeatedly press F8 to enter safe mode. Test the keyboard there.

Perform System Restore:

  • If this issue started recently, consider performing a system restore to a previous point when the keyboard was functioning well.
  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery and select Open System Restore.

I hope this helps.

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍
