Hi @Varnit1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

If the fans on your HP Victus Gaming Laptop are running continuously, it could be due to several factors, such as high CPU or GPU usage, a need for BIOS/firmware updates, or even a software issue. Here are some steps you can take to diagnose and resolve this issue:

Check for High CPU/GPU Usage

Open Task Manager:

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
  • Click on the "Processes" tab and check for any processes that are using a lot of CPU or GPU resources.
  • If you find any, consider ending those processes to see if it reduces the fan speed.

Close Unnecessary Programs:

  • Close any unnecessary programs that might be running in the background.

Monitor System Temperatures

Use a Monitoring Tool:

  • Install a system monitoring tool like HWMonitor or Core Temp to check your CPU and GPU temperatures.
  • If the temperatures are consistently high, it could be causing the fans to run continuously.

Ensure Proper Ventilation:

  • Make sure your laptop is placed on a hard, flat surface to ensure proper ventilation.
  • Avoid using your laptop on soft surfaces like beds or couches that can block air vents.

Update BIOS/Firmware and Drivers

Update BIOS:

  • Visit the HP Support website and download the latest BIOS update for your HP Victus Gaming Laptop.
  • Follow the instructions on the website to update your BIOS.

Update Drivers:

  • Make sure all your drivers, especially those for the CPU, GPU, and chipset, are up to date.
  • Use the Device Manager or visit the HP Support website to download and install the latest drivers.

Kindly check the next set of steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Varnit1,

Please find the next set of steps below.

Adjust Power Settings

  1. Power Settings:
    • Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep > Additional power settings.
    • Select a balanced or power-saving power plan.
    • Click on "Change plan settings" next to the selected power plan, then "Change advanced power settings".
    • Adjust the settings for "Processor power management" to reduce the maximum processor state if necessary.

Check for Malware

  1. Run a Full System Scan:
    • Use Windows Defender or any trusted antivirus software to run a full system scan to check for malware or viruses that might be causing high CPU usage.

Clean the Laptop's Vents and Fans

  1. Physical Cleaning:
    • Turn off the laptop and unplug it from the power source.
    • Use a can of compressed air to gently blow out any dust from the vents and fans.
    • Ensure you blow air into the intake vents (typically on the bottom) and exhaust vents (typically on the sides or back).

Reset the System

  1. System Reset:
    • As a last resort, consider resetting your system to its factory settings.
    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery.
    • Under "Reset this PC", click "Get started" and follow the prompts.

Summary

  1. Check and reduce high CPU/GPU usage in Task Manager.
  2. Monitor system temperatures using a tool like HWMonitor or Core Temp.
  3. Ensure proper ventilation and clean vents and fans.
  4. Update BIOS/firmware and drivers from the HP Support website.
  5. Adjust power settings to a balanced or power-saving plan.
  6. Run a full system scan for malware or viruses.
  7. Consider a system reset if all else fails.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, it might be a more complex hardware problem that requires service.

In that case, I recommend you contact phone support.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
