Hi @nikkistixit,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.

The HP 17t-cn300 is a great laptop and typically comes with a white-only backlit keyboard. Even if you've upgraded to a backlit keyboard, the color is usually not customizable on this model. HP reserves RGB or multi-zone backlighting for its gaming-focused OMEN or high-end Pavilion Gaming laptops.

Here's how you can double-check:

HP OMEN Gaming Hub:

  • Open the HP OMEN Gaming Hub software (if installed).
  • Check for any keyboard customization options. If your keyboard supports RGB or color customization, it should appear here.
  • If the laptop isn't listed or no options appear, then the backlight is likely white-only.

BIOS Settings:

  • Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS setup (press F10 during startup).
  • Look for any keyboard lighting options. Some models allow toggling lighting features here.

Keyboard Shortcuts:

  • Use the keyboard shortcut Fn + F5 or a similar combination to adjust the brightness or turn the backlight on/off. Unfortunately, this won't let you change the color if it's not supported.

I hope this helps.
