Hi i have an issue on my new laptop, i try to activate the g-sync option (the hp page say this notebook have g-sync)
but the Nvidia control panel dont show the gsync option or the display option.
i try uninstall the driver whit DDU and reinstall from the support of hp omen 17 and i try whit the last driver from nvidia but i cant see the gsync option.
in the bios don have any option to set the Nvidia as principal display (only basic options) so i cant disable the intel hd graphics.
if i go to Device Manager and disable "intel HD Graphics" the Nvidia panel won't open even if i reinstall the drivers with DDU and the hd graphics disable.
some one can help me or have any idea??

Hi @GermanCacha
Welcome to the HP Forums!
This is a wonderful place to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips.
I reviewed your post and understand that you want to know how to enable G sync on your computer.
I’d love to help!
Follow below steps to enable G sync on your computer.
Open the NVIDIA Control Panel on your PC by right-clicking your Windows desktop and selecting “NVIDIA Control Panel”, or launching the “NVIDIA Control Panel” application from your Start menu.
Head to Display > Set up G-SYNC. Ensure the “Enable G-SYNC” option is checked. By default, G-Sync is only enabled for games running in full screen mode. You’ll probably want to select the “Enable G-Sync for windowed and full screen mode” option instead. This will make G-Sync work even when you play games in windowed mode on your desktop, too. Click “Apply” after you change any options here.
If you have multiple monitors connected to your PC and only one of them supports G-Sync, the control panel will guide you through setting the G-Sync monitor as your primary display first.
if you’d like to know when G-Sync is enabled, you can select Display > G-Sync Indicator from within the NVIDIA Control Panel to enable or disable the G-Sync overlay.
With this option enabled, you’ll see an overlay over a game when G-Sync is enabled. It’s probably not something you want to leave enabled all the time, but it can help you troubleshoot and confirm that G-Sync is indeed enabled and working in a game.
Let me know how it goes.
To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles. Take care now and have a splendid week ahead.
Good day! Take care 🙂

I have an Omen shipping in tomorrow. Ill take a look at it to see if I have the same issue.
I have been reading that is an issue for several laptops, not just HP brand.
I'll post back if I find something.

Hi @GermanCacha
After doing some research I found that the issue is caused by Windows updates. You need to perform a recovery on your computer to get this option back on your computer.
Here is how you can perform a recovery on your computer.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day.
Take care.
Cheers!

Did you happen to find which update is the culprit?
I would hate go through the trouble of reinstalling the OS and games, just to have the update come back and do the same thing again.

@GermanCacha Received the w273nr with the GTX 1070 and have no problems accessing G-Sync before or after Windows updates.
Nvidia driver version 381.78
I cannot seem to replicate your issue.
Have you tried running the recovery option as the other person recommended yet?
If not, I would also ask on the Nvidia forum about the issue.
If doing a recovery reinstallation still does not help, or doing a clean reinstall of the nvidia drivers do nothing, you can also contact HP Support for warranty issues.

@Photoray002 thx for the reply but the issue is in a OMEN 17-w209ns this model is Freedos System so dont have a "Stock System" to restore. im downloading Windows 8 for test but this model says only suport Windows 10 let me see what happen.

Did it come with 10 installed, just FreeDos for the recovery???
You had the Win 10 wallpaper on your screen shot.
If that is the case, you would have to contact HP Support and purchase recovery media.
If you bought your own copy of 10, you can download that from the MS media creation tool.

The Kaby Lake cpu will only support Windows 10. I haven't tried it but I hear Win 8.1 will run but be unstable and wont allow drivers/updates without crashing.
Let me know what happens.

yes this model dont have OS from factory. so dont have a windows 10 configured.
i download and installed Windows 10 whit the media creation tool
and install all drivers before windows 10 updates but g-sync or Display tab dont appear.
I hope it works with windows 8.1 pro
The problem with kabylake apparently is something for official support but works normal. i will check
