i want to know if my laptop contains ddr 4 or ddr 3 and is adding 16 GB of ram on my own to the 8 GB laptop create any technical problem or a problem with my warranty?

And also what steps will i need to follow after i add the ram to set it up perfectly (what do i have to do with the BIOS settings)?

Hi:

 

Below is the link to the crucial memory report for your model PC, which has the compatible memory info.

 

https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP-Compaq/pavilion-15-bc406tx

 

You should not void the warranty unless you break something in the process of upgrading the memory.

 

Here is the link to the service manual...

No additional steps need to be taken after you install the memory.

 

If you did it right and got the right memory, the PC should boot up and recognize the increased memory capacity.

Did you face any problem after upgrading the Ram as the maximum memory supported is 8gb as per HP?
Also to what extent you upgrade the RAM(16 gb or 32 gb)?
Please reply as I am alo planning to upgrade the RAM but specification does not support.
