@xkarma19, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand how frustrating input lag can be, especially in a fast-paced game like Counter-Strike 2 (CS2). Let’s work through this together to improve your gaming experience.
Update Graphics Drivers
Outdated or incorrect GPU drivers are a common cause of input lag.
- If you have an NVIDIA GPU, download the latest Game Ready Driver from NVIDIA's official site.
- For AMD GPUs, visit AMD Drivers and Support.
- Alternatively, use HP Support Assistant to check for driver updates:
- Download: HP Support Assistant | HP® Support
Disable V-Sync and Enable Low Latency Mode
In CS2:
- Go to Settings > Video > Advanced.
- Set V-Sync to Off.
- In your GPU control panel:
- NVIDIA: Set “Low Latency Mode” to Ultra in NVIDIA Control Panel.
- AMD: Enable “Radeon Anti-Lag” in AMD Software.
Adjust Windows Power Settings
Ensure your notebook is running at full performance:
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options.
- Select High Performance or Ultimate Performance (if available).
Disable Background Apps and Overlays
- Close unnecessary apps (e.g., browsers, Discord, etc.).
- Disable overlays like GeForce Experience, Xbox Game Bar, and Steam Overlay.
Check for Windows and BIOS Updates
- Go to Settings > Windows Update and install all updates.
- Update BIOS via HP Support:
- Visit HP Support page.
- Enter your notebook model and download the latest BIOS.
Reduce Polling Rate (if using external mouse)
Some high-polling-rate mice (1000Hz) can cause lag on laptops. Try reducing it to 500Hz using your mouse software.
Game Mode and GPU Scheduling
- Enable Game Mode: Settings > Gaming > Game Mode > On.
- Enable Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling: Settings > System > Display > Graphics > Change default graphics settings.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
