Hi @CodeRochak, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Battery Optimization!

Thank you for reaching out and providing detailed information regarding your OMEN by HP 16.1-inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-xd0000 (758R0AV). We understand how important it is to optimize battery performance, especially when your system’s discrete GPU remains active on battery. Based on your report, the background processes hp.omen.vadredirecthelper.exe and amdsserv.exe appear to be utilizing the discrete GPU (dGPU), resulting in reduced battery life.

Below are the steps to resolve this:

Step 1: Set Apps to Use Integrated Graphics

  1. Go to Settings > System > Display > Graphics.
  2. Scroll down and click “Browse” to manually locate:
    • hp.omen.vadredirecthelper.exe
    • amdsserv.exe
  3. After adding them to the list, select each and click “Options”.
  4. Set both to “Power Saving” (this assigns the integrated GPU).

This helps ensure these services use the integrated GPU while on battery power.

Step 2: Configure OMEN Gaming Hub Settings

  1. Open the OMEN Gaming Hub application.
  2. Navigate to Performance Control or Power Settings.
  3. Ensure the system is set to Balanced or Battery Saver mode.
  4. If available, disable any option that forces the system to prefer the discrete GPU when on battery.

This step prevents the system from prioritizing the dGPU unnecessarily when you're not gaming.

Step 3: Update HP Software & Drivers

  1. Launch HP Support Assistant
    👉 HP Support Assistant | HP® Support
  2. Check for updates for:
    • BIOS
    • Chipset drivers
    • Graphics drivers
    • OMEN Gaming Hub components

Ensuring all firmware and software are current can resolve power management or GPU switching anomalies.

Step 4: Check BIOS Settings (If Comfortable)

  1. Restart the laptop and repeatedly press F10 to enter BIOS.
  2. Navigate to Advanced > Device Configuration.
  3. Ensure that Hybrid Graphics Mode (if available) is enabled.
  4. Save changes and exit.

⚠️ Please do not alter other BIOS settings unless instructed. If you’re unsure, we recommend contacting HP Support for guided assistance.

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution. We hope our assistance has been helpful!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Hi @CodeRochak,

Thanks for confirming.

Since the previous agent is away at the moment, I'll be assisting you further.

If forcing hp.omen.vadredirecthelper.exe and amdsserv.exe to use the integrated GPU is causing system slowness or not working, let’s try some advanced steps to manage how your OMEN handles GPU switching and power draw.

Here’s what you can do next:

Turn Off OMEN Background Services (If Optional)

Some OMEN background tasks, like vadredirecthelper, help manage audio/video and streaming overlays but can run the dGPU unnecessarily.

Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc).

Go to the Startup tab.

Look for OMEN-related entries (like OMEN Audio Control, OMEN Gaming Hub Background, etc.)

Right-click and disable them from starting automatically, except for the OMEN Gaming Hub itself.

Restart your laptop.
This won’t break your PC but can stop unneeded services from running the dGPU when not needed.

Adjust Radeon Settings (for AMD dGPU)

Since amdsserv.exe is AMD’s display service:

Open AMD Radeon Settings (right-click desktop → AMD Software).

Go to Preferences → Additional Settings → Switchable Graphics.

Find amdsserv.exe and set it to Power Saving or Energy Saving.

Also check Global Graphics → Power → Switchable Graphics is set to Automatic or Maximize Battery.

Save and restart.

OMEN Gaming Hub Eco Mode

Open OMEN Gaming Hub → Performance Control.

Look for a setting like Eco Mode, Hybrid Mode, or Graphics Switcher.

Make sure Hybrid Graphics is ON—this allows automatic switching to iGPU when you’re on battery.

 Windows GPU Scheduling

Open Settings → System → Display → Graphics → Change Default Graphics Settings.

If hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling is ON, try turning it OFF and restarting.

Sometimes this forces the dGPU to stay active.

I hope this helps.

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀
