Hi @temumoooda

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It’s absolutely valid to expect smoother performance from a system with your specs—especially in a competitive title like Valorant. Experiencing low FPS despite having a Ryzen 5000 series processor, GTX 1650 GPU, and 32GB RAM can feel disappointing, but there are several targeted steps you can take to restore responsiveness and fluidity.

System Optimization Steps

1. Update Graphics Drivers

Outdated or mismatched drivers are a frequent cause of FPS drops.

  • Visit HP’s Driver Downloads
  • Enter your HP Victus model number
  • Download and install the latest NVIDIA graphics driver listed for your device

Also consider checking directly with NVIDIA’s official site for game-ready drivers.

2. Adjust Valorant In-Game Settings

Even with solid hardware, certain settings can bottleneck performance:

  • Limit FPS: Set Max FPS to your monitor’s refresh rate (e.g., 144)
  • Graphics Quality: Set to Low or Medium for all options except Texture Quality (can be Medium)
  • VSync: Off
  • Anti-Aliasing: Off or MSAA 2x
  • Anisotropic Filtering: 2x
  • Improve Clarity: Off
  • Bloom, Distortion, Shadows: Off

These changes reduce GPU load without compromising visibility.

3. Enable High Performance Mode in Windows

  • Go to Control Panel → Power Options
  • Select High Performance or create a custom plan
  • Disable Fast Startup under Power Settings

This ensures your CPU and GPU aren’t throttled during gameplay.

4. Disable Background Apps and Overlays

  • Close apps like Discord overlay, Xbox Game Bar, and browser tabs
  • Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) → End unnecessary processes
  • Disable startup apps via Task Manager → Startup tab

This frees up CPU and memory resources for Valorant.

5. Thermal Management

Heat buildup can cause throttling:

  • Clean vents and fans to ensure airflow
  • Use a cooling pad if available
  • Monitor temperatures using tools like HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner

6. Enable XMP/DOCP for RAM (BIOS Level)

If your RAM is running below rated speed:

  • Enter BIOS (usually F10 or Esc during boot)
  • Enable XMP (Intel) or DOCP (AMD) profile
  • Save and exit

This ensures your 32GB RAM is running at full bandwidth.

You're absolutely right to expect better performance—let’s make sure your system delivers it.
