So I've been getting this error ever since i bought this laptop, the error is in a notification which says low power-source detected laptop will run in low performance mode. I mean the frame i hit in games is terrible and I'm shocked after i saw people reviewing the same laptop but getting more than triple the fps i get. I am sure the reason of my low fps is because of this problem. ive tried many ways to fix this but none work. I hope there is a way to fix this issue and please let me know the solution soon.

Hi @Abdullah984,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps
Verify Power Adapter Wattage:
- Make sure you are using the original HP power adapter that came with the laptop, or one with the same wattage rating. Using a lower wattage adapter can cause performance issues.
Check Battery Health:
- Open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows. You can download it from the HP website.
- Run the battery test to check if the battery is functioning properly.
Power Settings Configuration
- Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep > Additional power settings.
- Select the High performance power plan.
- Open Control Panel, go to Power Options.
- Click on Change plan settings for the selected power plan.
- Select Change advanced power settings.
- Expand Processor power management and ensure Minimum processor state is set to 100%.
Graphics Settings
- Ensure that both your integrated and dedicated graphics drivers are up to date.
- Go to the HP Support website or visit the NVIDIA/AMD website to download the latest drivers.
- Right-click on the desktop and select NVIDIA Control Panel or AMD Radeon Settings.
- Adjust settings to make sure that high-performance Nvidia/AMD graphics are used for gaming and demanding applications.
Windows Updates
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Ensure your system is fully updated.
HP Support Assistant
- Open the HP Support Assistant and run a system diagnostics.
- Ensure all software and firmware are up to date.
- If the issue persists, consider performing a clean installation of Windows to rule out any software conflicts.
I hope this helps.

Hi @Abdullah984,
Thank you for the response:
Confirm Charger Wattage (most likely cause!)
Flip over the charger brick → check the output (W).
Compare it to what your laptop model requires (you can look this up on the HP website or just tell me the exact model, and I’ll find it for you).
If it’s underpowered, you’ll need a
Restart your laptop
Tap Esc repeatedly to enter startup menu, then press F10 for BIOS
Look for options like:
"Battery Health Manager"
"AC Adapter Warnings"
"Performance Options"
If available, change:
Battery mode to “Max Performance”
Disable power source detection alerts
Then save and exit BIOS (F10).
HP Command Center Settings
If you have HP Command Center preinstalled:
Open it
Set the system mode to Performance
Disable CoolSense or any “auto power adjust” feature
Thunderbolt / USB-C Chargers (Important)
If you’re using a USB-C charger, check this:
Not all USB-C chargers support high-wattage passthrough
Your laptop might require barrel-type charger (round plug) for full performance
So, even a 100W USB-C might not be compatible unless it's HP-certified for your exact model.
I hope this helps.

Hi, I tried the BIOS thing i couldn't find anything like Performance options or battery health manager, and there wasn't even the power source detection alerts anywhere! I don't have the hp command center, so i downloaded it and there was nothing like settings or performance or anything. So basically everything you said wasn't helping at all. My laptop is Hp Pavilion Gaming - 15 - ec1023ax and I have been given a 135w adapter by HP. I thought this was a gaming laptop but none of the games i play hit 60 fps. I really want to play games so pls help me out.
