Sometimes the display freezes which forces me to force stop my laptop. This happens only when i plug in charge and use only google chrome in my laptop(even when there is only one or two tabs open in google chrome). I have updated my hardware drivers and still this persists. I even heard one of my friend has this same problem with same laptop, so i guess this is a laptops manufacturer mistake.
here are the specifications:
processor: AMD Ryzen 5 5600H with Radeon Graphics 3.30 GHz
ram: 16.0 GB (15.3 GB usable)
os version: Windows 11 Home Single Language
please guide me to rectify this problem as this may affect my day to day activities done using laptop.

Hi @anten_1723,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds frustrating to experience display freezes with your Victus laptop while using Google Chrome, especially when it seems linked to charging. Here are a few steps and checks you can perform to potentially resolve or diagnose the issue further:
Chrome Settings Adjustment:
- Disable Hardware Acceleration: Sometimes, Chrome's hardware acceleration feature can cause issues with certain hardware configurations. Try disabling it by going to Chrome settings (chrome://settings), scrolling down to the 'System' section, and toggling off 'Use hardware acceleration when available'. Restart Chrome to see if this resolves the issue.
Power Management Settings:
- Change Power Plan: Your laptop might be set to a power plan that doesn’t work well with Chrome under certain conditions (like when charging). Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options and switch to a different power plan, such as 'High performance' or 'Balanced', to see if it makes a difference.
Check Thermal Management:
- Monitor Temperature: Sometimes, issues like these can be related to overheating, which might occur more readily when the laptop is charging and under load. Use software like HWMonitor or Speccy to check your laptop’s temperature. If the temperatures are high, consider cleaning the fans and vents, or using a cooling pad.
Update Chrome and Extensions:
- Make sure Google Chrome is up to date by going to chrome://settings/help. Also, check if any of your Chrome extensions are outdated or causing issues. Try running Chrome in Incognito mode (which disables most extensions) to see if the issue persists.
System File Check:
- Run a system file check to ensure all Windows system files are intact and not corrupted. Open Command Prompt as Administrator and type sfc /scannow. This will scan and repair any corrupt system files.
Perform a Clean Boot:
- Try performing a clean boot to see if any background services or programs are causing the issue. Type msconfig in the Start menu search bar, go to the 'Services' tab, check 'Hide all Microsoft services', and then click 'Disable all'. Restart the computer and check if the issue still occurs.
BIOS/UEFI Update:
- Check for any BIOS updates from the manufacturer's website. Sometimes, a BIOS update can resolve underlying hardware issues that affect performance and stability.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
