@oxseo, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the fan on your OMEN 16 laptop is not working, it could be due to a hardware fault, BIOS settings, or thermal management issues. Here are some steps to help you troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

Check for Overheating or Fan Blockage

  • Ensure the laptop is placed on a hard, flat surface.
  • Use compressed air to clean the air vents and fan exhausts.
  • Avoid using the laptop on soft surfaces like beds or cushions.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

HP provides a built-in tool to test hardware components including the fan:

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Press Esc repeatedly while turning it on, then press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  • Run the System Tests > Component Tests > Fan Test.

You can also download the tool here: HP PC Hardware Diagnostics | HP® Support

Update BIOS and Drivers

Outdated BIOS or thermal management drivers can cause fan issues.

  • Visit the OMEN 16 Support Page.
  • Download and install the latest BIOS, Chipset, and Thermal Framework drivers.

Use HP Support Assistant

HP Support Assistant can automatically detect and fix many issues:

Perform a Hard Reset

Sometimes, a simple reset can restore fan functionality:

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Unplug the AC adapter.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect and power on.

Check BIOS Settings

  • Restart your laptop and press F10 to enter BIOS.
  • Look for any thermal or fan control settings and ensure they’re enabled.

If Fan Still Doesn’t Work

If the fan is still not functioning:

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
