@oxseo, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the fan on your OMEN 16 laptop is not working, it could be due to a hardware fault, BIOS settings, or thermal management issues. Here are some steps to help you troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
Check for Overheating or Fan Blockage
- Ensure the laptop is placed on a hard, flat surface.
- Use compressed air to clean the air vents and fan exhausts.
- Avoid using the laptop on soft surfaces like beds or cushions.
Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
HP provides a built-in tool to test hardware components including the fan:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Press Esc repeatedly while turning it on, then press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
- Run the System Tests > Component Tests > Fan Test.
You can also download the tool here: HP PC Hardware Diagnostics | HP® Support
Update BIOS and Drivers
Outdated BIOS or thermal management drivers can cause fan issues.
- Visit the OMEN 16 Support Page.
- Download and install the latest BIOS, Chipset, and Thermal Framework drivers.
Use HP Support Assistant
HP Support Assistant can automatically detect and fix many issues:
- Download or open it from: HP Support Assistant | HP® Support
- Run the diagnostics and check for fan-related alerts.
Perform a Hard Reset
Sometimes, a simple reset can restore fan functionality:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Unplug the AC adapter.
- Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
- Reconnect and power on.
Check BIOS Settings
- Restart your laptop and press F10 to enter BIOS.
- Look for any thermal or fan control settings and ensure they’re enabled.
If Fan Still Doesn’t Work
If the fan is still not functioning:
- It may be a hardware failure requiring service. In that case, please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.
