Hi
I bought a hp omen 16 in 2023, and i send it back to support in july 2024 for a problem (screen freeze, need to wait to start the computer after freeze, some time it freeze in the BIOS if i try to start too close to a Windows freeze ) I don't know what was made on my computer when the support fix it, but it work good... until last week !
Last week i got a freeze (same as before, nothing move but the screen dont go black or blue . ) and the computer can't start after this freeze.
When i try to start i got a black screen with the cap lock led that blink (5 long, 3 short), and nothing else.
It start just one time on the multiple try (maybe 50) , and it's because i click on WIN+B to recover the bios, so the bios was recovered, the computer go to windows, and i try an hardware check, no error found, but after this test it don't start ...
I try to open it and change the RAM ( a 2*16G PC5 from my job) but no changes, so it's not the RAM. I also try to start without RAM and the error is the same.
I try to disconnect the battery, but nothing better.
I try to check the hall effect problem, but i have the same connector i see in other thread, i think i have a newer version of the omen 16.
The warranty is over, and i don't think there is a waranty on spare part installed by the HP support in the last maintenance.
I don't know what to do. I think the motherboard is over, and i don't find spare part on HP website. And it's the second problem on this computer, so i think the problem in on the conception on the motherboard.
I see that a bios battery reset can be a solution, but i don't see no battery on this motherboard.
So if you got some idea to start the computer, i'll buy it !
Best regards
Gaetan

Hi @Gaetan38,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with the blinking caps lock light on an HP laptop, This condition indicates that the embedded controller cannot reach the BIOS within the established time limit.
1. Remove all accessory devices from the notebook.
2. Try BIOS Restore one more time.
BIOS Restore :
1) Shutdown the computer and keep the charger plugged
2) Hold down the Windows and B button together while the computer is still turned off.
3) Turn on the computer and continue to hold the Windows and B button until a BIOS Recovery screen appears.
4) Follow on-screen instructions and click on OK
Once the PC boots back please update the BIOS to the latest F.26 Rev.A from HP Website
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
