@Karimfgh, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Thanks for the detailed info — super helpful. This sounds like one of those classic “HP update chain reaction” issues, especially considering how audio is fine in YouTube, but in-game audio is suddenly very low after specific driver/BIOS changes. Let’s break it down and get you back to proper gaming sound. 🔊🎮
LIKELY CAUSE:
From what you described, the issue is not hardware-related, and since system restore didn’t fix it either, the problem likely persists because:
- A Realtek Audio driver or Windows Audio endpoint got silently messed up.
- OMEN Gaming Hub SDK might have overwritten sound settings or audio profiles in-game.
- Windows might now be defaulting to Spatial Sound (Windows Sonic) or some other surround setting, which can nerf volume specifically in games.
STEP-BY-STEP FIX:
1. Check Sound Enhancements + Spatial Sound
These tend to reset after Realtek driver updates.
- Right-click the speaker icon → Sounds → go to Playback tab.
- Select your default device (usually "Speakers - Realtek").
- Click Properties → Enhancements tab:
- Disable all enhancements (check "Disable all enhancements").
- Go to Spatial Sound tab:
- Set it to Off (not “Windows Sonic” or “Dolby”).
Now test a game. Any change?
2. Roll back or re-install the audio driver manually
Even though you restored system files, the driver version might still be newer.
👉 Download the older Realtek Audio driver from HP:
From the official page:
🔗 HP OMEN 17-ck2000 series drivers Look for:
Realtek High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver — Version: 6.0.9366.1 Rev.A
- Download and extract.
- Go to Device Manager → Sound, video and game controllers → Right-click Realtek → Uninstall device (check “delete driver”).
- Reboot.
- Then run the downloaded driver installer.
3. Reinstall OMEN Audio Control or Reset OMEN Gaming Hub
Sometimes the OMEN Gaming Hub SDK update installs or changes internal audio/game-specific settings:
- Open OMEN Gaming Hub → check if there’s an “Audio” section → look for per-app/game sound controls or EQ tweaks.
- Try resetting it or reinstalling the OMEN Gaming Hub from the Microsoft Store.
- You can also uninstall the OMEN SDK Package from Apps > Apps & Features, then reinstall Gaming Hub clean.
4. Check in-game sound settings again
Even though you did — recheck for:
- Output Device – some games let you select this independently.
- Audio Mix or Balance – e.g., some games have their own internal sliders for sound effects/music/voice.
5. Optional: Use HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI
Just to rule out any firmware-level mess, press F2 on boot → run the Audio playback test.
6. Monitor New Temps
You mentioned new temps appearing — probably due to the updated BIOS or Intel drivers.
- You can:
- Downgrade BIOS if needed (F.12 back to F.11).
- Monitor temps with HWMonitor or Core Temp to ensure it's not boosting voltage/fan curves unnecessarily.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
