i have a laptop with features that goes like 16GB of RAM, intel iris graphic card, i7 core.

when i run a game it consumes 100 percent of GPU but 0 of VRAM, which is quite unusual for a gaming experience.

and another issue , i typed WIN + R and then dxdialog, it shows that its cuurent directx is directx 12 , however by clicking on display , it shows that directx 12 is disabled. it doesn't matter how many times and how many methods i tried to fix it , all doomed to failure, could you please walk me through how to fix that ?

and thanks in advance

Hi @MRtakI12,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing a couple of issues with your HP laptop's gaming performance and DirectX settings. Let's address each one step by step.

GPU Utilization: If your game is consuming 100% of the GPU but 0 VRAM, it could indicate a bottleneck or a configuration issue. Here are a few steps to troubleshoot this:

  • Check for driver updates: Make sure your GPU drivers are up to date. You can do this by visiting the website of your GPU manufacturer (Intel, Nvidia, or AMD) and downloading the latest drivers for your specific GPU model.
  • Monitor system temperatures: High temperatures can cause throttling, leading to performance issues. Use monitoring software like MSI Afterburner or HWMonitor to check CPU and GPU temperatures while gaming.
  • Adjust in-game settings: Lowering graphics settings in your game can reduce GPU load and potentially alleviate the issue. Start with lower settings and gradually increase them until you find a balance between performance and visual quality.
  • Background applications: Make sure no unnecessary background applications are running while gaming, as they can consume system resources and impact performance.

DirectX 12: If DirectX 12 is showing as disabled despite being installed, there might be a configuration issue. Here's how you can try to resolve it:

  • Enable DirectX 12 in Display settings: Open the DirectX Diagnostic Tool (dxdiag) again using Win + R and typing "dxdiag". Navigate to the Display tab and ensure that DirectX 12 is enabled.
  • Check DirectX feature level: DirectX 12 might be installed but not fully supported by your hardware. In the DirectX Diagnostic Tool, under the Display tab, look for the "Feature Levels" section. It should list DirectX 12 as one of the supported feature levels. If it's not listed, your hardware may not fully support DirectX 12.
  • Run Windows Update: Ensure that your operating system is up to date by running Windows Update. Sometimes, updates can resolve compatibility issues with DirectX.
  • DirectX installation repair: You can try repairing your DirectX installation by downloading and running the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer from the official Microsoft website. This tool can detect and repair issues with DirectX installation.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
