Hi there,
I recently changed the password on my printer's embedded web server, but as it turns out, I'm not sure what my username is. I figured it'd be my email, but every address I try isn't working. Can someone help me figure out where I'd find that username?
Thanks!

Hi @MissKimbo,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I see that you're wondering what the administrator login and password are for your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus Printer. I would be happy to help you and please remember to return to this thread and mark 'Accept as Solution', if I have successfully helped you resolve the issue. If you wish to say 'thanks' for my effort to help, click the 'thumbs up' to give me a Kudos.
HP doesn't have access to this information. The administrator settings are configured in the embedded web server locally from your end. If you do not know the login details we will need to clear the settings by performing the Semi-Full Reset .This will set the printer back to factory default settings and the network would have to be configured again. I can send you that information in a private message. In the forum beside your handle name just click on the envelope to view it.
NOTE: The login name would not be your email address.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you. Good Luck! 🙂

Hi @MissKimbo,
Thanks for the reply. 🙂
I'm happy that I was able to help you resolve the issue.
Please explain in more detail what you're trying to do:
- Are you trying to secure the embedded web server (EWS) with a username and password again?
- Are you having issues with your "Scan to email" profile?
Please follow these instructions to set a username and password:
- Double-click on the printer icon on the desktop to open the HP Printer Assistant.
- Click on the Printer Home Page (EWS) option.
- This will open a EWS for the printer.
- Click on the Settings across the top.
- On the right, under Security click on Password settings.
- Type the password you want in Password and Confirm password boxes and click Apply.
If you have any further concerns, please feel free to contact me.
