Product: photosmart printer

so this is probably a silly question, i was given an HP photosmart printer and wonder if when it runs out of ink, i need to replace all the colors or if just replacing black is sufficient since i mostly use black? i just saw that you can buy individual colors, please educate me. thanks.

HP Recommended

You need to replace the ink cartridge that reports being empty.

If any ink cartridge is empty ( colours or black) your printer will stop and you will not be able to print even in black&white.
