HP DeskJet 2852e All-in-One Printer

The ink that was sent from Instant Ink for my OfficeJet 2852e is too long.  The door will not close, and the carriage will not return to rest with them in.  It is seated  and inserted properly. That is not the problem. The problem is There is not enough clearance for the XL cartridge for it to return to its resting position. It gets caught on the side unable to pass the wall the door is connected to. There is not enough information to resolve this issue if it can be resolved. Every post I've read who have responses from HP support all say it will infact fit properly but it doesn't and the only solution has been to just request a new order. I have done that and I still receive XL, they're unusable for my printer type

Hi @Tbrook22,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're encountering a frustrating issue with cartridge compatibility for your HP OfficeJet 2852e. The 67/305 XL cartridges should theoretically fit your printer, but there are a few potential issues that could be causing the problem you’re describing. Here’s a detailed approach to troubleshooting and resolving the issue:

1. Verify Cartridge Compatibility

Check Cartridge Model: Confirm that the cartridges you received are indeed the correct models for your HP OfficeJet 2852e. The correct cartridges for this model should be HP 67/305 standard or XL cartridges.

Compare Cartridges: Compare the dimensions of the XL cartridges with the standard cartridges (if you have any). The XL cartridges are typically longer to hold more ink, but they should still fit the same slot.

2. Inspect Printer and Cartridges

Check Cartridge Slot: Inspect the cartridge slot and the printer’s interior for any obstructions or damage that might prevent the cartridges from fitting correctly.

Examine Cartridges: Look at the cartridges themselves to ensure they are not damaged and that they match the specifications provided for your printer.

3. Clean and Reinstall Cartridges

Clean Contacts: Remove the cartridges and clean the contacts on both the cartridges and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth. This ensures there is no debris or ink residue causing an issue.

Reinstall Cartridges: Reinstall the cartridges carefully, making sure they click into place. Ensure they are properly aligned with the slots.

4. Perform Printer Reset

  1. Power Cycle Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for 60 seconds, plug it back in, and turn it on. Sometimes a reset can resolve issues with cartridge recognition.

5. Check Printer Firmware

  1. Update Firmware: Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. Visit the HP support website or use the HP Smart app to check for any available updates and install them if needed.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
