Hi @Edstaylor,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing a "Cartridge Problem" error on your HP Officejet Pro 8610, and you've already tried restarting the printer and replacing the cartridge, there are a few additional steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.

  • Clean the Cartridge Contacts: Ensure that the cartridge contacts are clean. Remove the problematic cartridge and gently wipe the electrical contacts with a lint-free cloth or cotton swab. Be careful not to touch the nozzles.
  • Reset the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 60 seconds. Then, plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes clear temporary errors.
  • Update Firmware: Make sure your printer has the latest firmware. Visit the HP website, search for your printer model, and download the latest firmware update if available. Follow the instructions provided to update the firmware.
  • Check for Obstructions: Ensure there are no obstructions or debris in the cartridge area. Open the printer cover and inspect for anything that might be hindering the movement of the cartridges.
  • Perform a Hard Reset: A hard reset can sometimes resolve issues. Turn off the printer, disconnect all cables, and remove the cartridges. Wait for about 10 minutes, then reconnect everything and reinstall the cartridges. Turn the printer back on.
  • Try a Different Cartridge: If possible, try inserting a different cartridge of the same color to determine if the issue lies with the cartridge or the printer itself.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
