My black ink cartridge isn’t printing. Troubleshooting I’ve tried:
replacing ink cartridge
cleaning print head (10 times)
aligning printer
restarting printer
wiping copper contacts with distilled water
cleaning smudge
to no avail! Can I please have some help?

Hi @Ssaki,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you've already tried several troubleshooting steps to address the issue of your HP DeskJet 2622 All-In-One Printer not printing with the black ink cartridge. Since you've covered many of the common solutions, let's explore a few additional steps and considerations.
- Check Ink Levels: Make sure that the new black ink cartridge you installed is not empty or low on ink. Sometimes, even new cartridges can be faulty or have insufficient ink.
- Printer Software: Ensure that your printer's drivers and software are up to date. Outdated software can sometimes cause printing problems. You can usually find the latest drivers and software on the HP website.
- Print in Black Only: Set your printer to print in black and white or grayscale only. This can be an option in your printer settings. Sometimes, the printer may try to use color ink to create black, which can lead to issues if the color cartridge is empty or malfunctioning.
- Check for Tape or Protective Covers: Sometimes, new ink cartridges have protective tape or covers that need to be removed before they can work correctly. Check the cartridge and ensure all protective materials have been removed.
- Use Genuine HP Cartridges: Non-genuine or refilled ink cartridges might cause problems. It's always best to use genuine HP cartridges.
- Printhead Cleaning: You mentioned cleaning the printhead, but if the problem persists, you might want to consider a more thorough cleaning. HP often provides specific instructions for this in the printer manual or on their website.
- Check for Firmware Updates: Sometimes, firmware updates can address printing issues. Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model on the HP website and follow the instructions to update it.
- Print a Test Page: Use the printer's control panel to print a test page. This can help diagnose if the issue is with the printer itself or the computer.
- Inspect for Physical Damage: Carefully inspect the black ink cartridge slot for any physical damage or foreign objects that might be obstructing the flow of ink.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi, we have checked / done all of those things. We are instant ink subscribers so are definitely using genuine ink. We tried printing a test page but none of the blank ink parts printed so it couldn’t tell us the diagnostic issue because most of the page was blank. We just put a new cartridge in, but the app says it’s registering the ink levels and there’s plenty of ink. All the software sbs firmware us updated. We also tried a reset by unplugging and plugging back into a wall. Is there any way to a new print head? Or to get it fixed? Thank you.
