Hello,
It seems that my black ink cartridge is empty, I can't print in black anymore. The printer still shows that there is an adequate amount of ink left so InstantInk will not send a new cartridge. I have tried cleaning the print heads several times but I do not think that is the problem, I've never had messy prints. How can I let HP Instant Ink know I need a new cartridge? I am frustrated by the lack of support, please help. Thanks!

Hi @Tanya9878765 ,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your frustration. If your HP Instant Ink-enabled printer is not automatically triggering a replacement cartridge shipment even though it appears to be empty, you can take the following steps to request a new cartridge:
Check your Instant Ink account online:
- Log in to your HP Instant Ink account on the Instant Ink website.
- Navigate to the "My Plan" or "My Account" section.
Check your ink levels:
- Look for an option that displays your ink levels. Ensure that it accurately reflects the low or empty status of your black ink cartridge.
Request a replacement:
- Within your account, there should be an option to request a replacement cartridge or report an issue with your current one. This may vary depending on the layout of the Instant Ink website, so explore the different sections.
Manual Notification:
- Some HP printers have a way to manually notify the Instant Ink service that a cartridge needs replacement. Check your printer's manual or settings to see if there's an option for this.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Ensure that your printer's firmware is up-to-date. Sometimes, firmware updates include improvements to cartridge management and communication with the Instant Ink service.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
