I recently bought a donated HP JetDesk 2800. The last owner has not removed the printer from their account so I cant use multiple features. Is there a way I can remove the printer from their account (or all accounts) so I can finally use all the features?

Hi @Rebekka3,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To resolve the issue of a previously owned HP DeskJet 2800 printer being linked to the previous owner's account, you'll need to disassociate it from their profile. Here’s what you can do.

Factory Reset: Perform a factory reset on the printer. This process usually clears the existing network settings and dissociates the printer from any accounts. Here's how you can reset the HP DeskJet printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
  • After at least 60 seconds, plug the power cord back into the printer and turn it on.
  • Access the printer’s menu and navigate to the settings or tools section to find the "Restore Defaults" or "Reset" option.

Remove from HP Smart Account: If you can contact the previous owner, request them to remove the printer from their HP account via the HP app or website.

Re-add the printer to your network and account: Once the printer is reset and removed from previous accounts, set it up on your network and add it to your HP Smart account for full functionality.

Resetting the printer should allow you to set it up anew, avoiding the restrictions imposed by the previous owner’s account association.
