I have bought the hp envy photo 6220 with 12 months instant ink free trial, though it seems I can only claim for 3 months.

Once enrolled, the free months will automatically be credited to your Instant Ink account. For assistance with enrollment, refer to - Enrolling in HP Instant Ink
