Hi @AbyChandy,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Using compatible or third-party ink cartridges with an HP printer that has an Instant Ink subscription can be tricky. Here's what you need to know.

HP Instant Ink Cartridges: HP Instant Ink cartridges are specially programmed for the subscription service and are different from standard cartridges. These cartridges communicate with HP to monitor ink levels and usage.

Subscription Management: When you use Instant Ink cartridges, your printer regularly communicates with HP to report ink usage. If you replace these cartridges with third-party or standard HP cartridges, this communication stops. Your printer will notify HP that non-Instant Ink cartridges are installed.

Switching Cartridges:

  • You can switch to regular or third-party cartridges for your bulk printing. When you do this, the printer should work normally, but the Instant Ink subscription tracking will pause.
  • After you finish your bulk printing, you can switch back to the Instant Ink cartridges, and your subscription service should resume. The Instant Ink program will pick up where it left off without affecting your billing cycle or subscription status.

Considerations:

  • Ensure you have the original Instant Ink cartridges to reinstall after your bulk printing.
  • Be aware that using non-HP cartridges may void certain aspects of your warranty or support agreements with HP.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
