I have a summer home and a winter home with a printer in each home. I alternate homes every 6 months. Can I cancel Instant Ink for each printer every 6 months and then re-enroll it after 6 months with having re-enrollment issues? When I signed up for Instant ink there was a "Pause" option I planned to use, but that has now disappeared. Thanks!

Hi @DCRinze,
The cartridges will only work until the printer is enrolled in instant ink.
Once you re-enroll Hp will send new cartridges.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi @DCRinze
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Yes, you can cancel HP Instant Ink and restart it at a later time, but there are a few things to keep in mind, especially given your situation of switching between homes every 6 months.
1. The Pause Option Disappeared:
The Pause option used to be a feature in HP Instant Ink, allowing users to temporarily stop the service for a certain period. However, as you’ve noticed, this option is no longer available. HP replaced it with other options for managing your account.
2. Can You Cancel and Re-Enroll Later?
- Yes, you can cancel HP Instant Ink and re-enroll later, but there are some considerations:
- Canceling: When you cancel HP Instant Ink, the service will stop, and your printer will no longer automatically receive ink refills. You will be billed for any pages printed up until the cancellation date.
- Re-enrolling: If you choose to re-enroll in HP Instant Ink after a 6-month break, you can sign back up when you're ready to start using it again. However, you may need to go through the activation process again, including adding your printer back to the account.
- If your printer is still eligible for the service (i.e., still under warranty and compatible with Instant Ink), there shouldn’t be any issues with re-enrolling.
- You will need to reselect a plan and might be charged for the ink service again depending on your billing cycle.
3. Potential Issues on Re-enrollment:
- Printer Recognition: When re-enrolling after several months, HP Instant Ink may not recognize your printer immediately if there were changes in the account or service structure during the period you were away. However, this is usually a minor issue, and you can troubleshoot by verifying the printer’s connection to HP Instant Ink when reactivating the service.
- Billing Adjustments: There could be a change in the billing cycle, so make sure to double-check your account when reactivating to ensure you’re on the correct plan and that billing is accurate.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi Rachel,
That was very helpful and answered my questions. Just one last related question. Should I leave the HP Instant Ink cartridges in the printer for when I reactivate it, or will HP send me new ones? Thanks!
