Can I use hp instant ink whilst using a USB cable?

I can't connect my printer to my university wifi so I'm having to use a USB cable to connect it to my laptop. I've set up an instant ink contract however will this still work without using the network or will I have to cancel it and purchase my own ink when it runs out?

Hi,

You will have to cancel and purchase ink from any nearby store, HP Instant Ink requires the printer to connect to the internet through a network:

Spoiler
A printer with an active Internet connection: The printer must be set up on a wired or wireless network and Web Services must be turned on. This connection is required so that HP Instant Ink can securely monitor your printer’s ink status. A daily connection between your printer and the Internet is not required, but HP recommends that you allow your printer to remain connected as often as possible. After your printer has been disconnected for a few days, you receive reminders to connect. If you fail to connect, eventually your HP Instant Ink cartridges stop printing.

Be aware, if you already use HP Instant Ink cartridges, these will stop working when the billing cycle ends, not when it runs out:
