HP DeskJet 4155e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have a printer that was previously owned by someone else but has been factory reset. It is connected to the WiFi network but I cannot connect the printer to my HP account, therefore I cannot use the cartridges I have because they are instant ink cartridges and I cannot link the printer to my instant ink account.

@jwelter, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the printer was enrolled into instant ink by the previous owner, the previous owner needs to cancel their Instant Ink subscription. This will typically take effect at the end of their current billing cycle.

Once their subscription has ended, you can enroll the printer in your own Instant Ink account. Here's how:
Sign into your Instant Ink account

Click HP Instant Ink, then Overview in the left navigation menu.

Click Enroll or Replace a Printer and then follow the steps to enroll your printer.

Also, kindly note, Instant Ink cartridges will only work with printers that are actively enrolled in an Instant Ink plan.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
