When I got my HP OfficeJet 5255, I tried to enroll in HP Instant Ink. With help from HP my printer still would not connect to enroll in instant ink. Now, I am trying again with no success. When I get to the final setup for instant ink I get the error code "GPS001". Please advise. I am so frustrated!

Hi @Cscar,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I am sorry to hear that your unable to enroll with Instant ink. Error code "GPS001" typically indicates a problem with enrolling your HP OfficeJet 5255 printer in the HP Instant Ink program. Here are some steps to help address this issue:

Check Internet Connection:

  • Ensure that your printer is connected to the internet. The HP Instant Ink service requires a stable internet connection to communicate with HP’s servers.

Verify Printer Setup:

  • Double-check that your printer is correctly set up using the HP Smart app. Make sure you have completed the entire setup process, including connecting to the internet.

Update Firmware:

  • Ensure that your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can often check for updates via the printer's control panel or through the HP Smart app.

Network Settings:

  • Make sure your printer is connected to the same network as the device you’re using to enroll in Instant Ink. Avoid using guest networks or VPNs as they might interfere with the process.

HP Smart Account:

  • Sign in to your HP Smart account to verify your printer's connection status and check for any pending notifications or error messages.

Clear Cache and Cookies:

  • If you experience issues accessing the enrollment page on your computer, try clearing your browser cache and cookies, or try using a different browser.

Support Assistance:

  • Contact HP Instant Ink Support for further assistance. Provide them with the error code "GPS001" for more specific troubleshooting.

Reattempt Enrollment:

  • Restart your printer and computer, and try enrolling again. It can help reset any minor glitches that might be standing in the way.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I have gone thru all your suggestions and I'm pretty sure I've done or checked them all. I still get the Gps001 error during finishing my enrollment. The HP smart app shows my printer and it has an ip address on my network and connected to my wifi.  I have fiber internet so I feel my connection is stable. I'm totally bummed that no one can figure this out for me. I tried for weeks when I bought my printer and could not get help (that worked) to enroll. This is soooo frustrating!

This is information I had already received in a email. Nothing new and still not able to enroll.
