I've unenrolled from Instant Ink and my printer won't work.  I've done a reset based on instructions from a similar question in this forum, and turned off Web settings and it still does not work.  I WILL NOT go and purchase new ink (that is not from the Instant Ink program) - no one should have to do that. You can send me free ink if you'd like, but I've paid for the ink that  I have and that is not an acceptable answer. My daughter needs this printer for schoolwork every day and this is a huge issue.  Please advise!

Welcome to the HP User Community.

I am sorry you are upset.

There is nothing we can say that will fix this situation the way you want.

If you don't remove the Instant Ink cartridges from the printer and purchase / install a new set of HP cartridges,

the printer won't work.

How Instant Ink subscription works - Cancellation

HP Instant Ink - Cancel Your HP Instant Ink Service

Keep in mind...

At this writing

  • According to the contract, all Instant Ink cartridges remain the property of HP.
  • Ink is supplied as part of the Print-by-Page subscription but is not supplied after the subscription is terminated.
  • After the subscription is terminated, the Instant Ink cartridges lock and cannot be used in any printer.
  • Instant Ink cartridges should have been removed and returned to HP.
  • No, HP will not chase you down for ink cartridges.

I have the same problem you described.  I un-enrolled in instant ink now my printer will not print. I do have HP ink cartridges in the printer so it should work.  Did you ever get an answer on how to correct this problem?

Thank you

The above is one of the biggest misconceptions regarding the Instant Ink program.  When you sign up for the Instant Ink program you are NOT purchasing ink, you are purchasing a subscription to a set number of pages per month.  The ink is supplied, but remains the property of HP and must be returned if you cancel the program in accordance with the terms of service.  See sections 5.d and 9.c of the terms of service here.

Agree.

No amount of explaining, documenting, or saying it over and over has helped.

The Instant Ink service is designed much differently than some customers expect.

Opinion

Customers who are best served by this type of program are perhaps other than casual, "print once a week" users.

Example of customers who might benefit from a Print-by-Page subscription model with Ink Included:

Teachers, large families, small home offices, church and community centers, Professionals, Artists, Realtors
