Hello,
I've been trying to sign up for instant ink with my HP printer. It's one I had before but it was in my ex's name and details. I'm having to sign up due to using previous instant ink cartridges that he got last time. It won't let me sign up through the app, giving me a message code - GCAG001
I tried signing up on the website but get redirected to the US site instead. I've tried using UK links in other threads but nothing's working. I need help.
Thankyou, Chels.

Hi @Chels96,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds frustrating to encounter these difficulties while trying to sign up for HP Instant Ink in the UK. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this issue:
Error Code GCAG001: This specific error code might be associated with a glitch or a more specific issue related to HP services.
Using the UK Site: Since you’re being redirected to the US site, make sure you are accessing the UK version of the HP website. You can try clearing your browser’s cookies and cache, which sometimes resolves redirection issues. Alternatively, manually navigate to the UK version of the HP website by typing "https://www.hp.com/uk-en/" directly into your browser’s address bar.
VPN Issues: If you are using a VPN, it might cause your IP address to appear as though it is coming from outside the UK, which could be why you're being redirected to the US site. Ensure your VPN is turned off when trying to sign up or set the location to the UK.
At first let's try the steps below.
Please try to disable the web services once. You may Click Here to check how to disable the web services.
Once done please try a network restore on the printer.
- Disconnect the power cord from the router.
- Turn off the printer.
- Turn off the mobile device/PC.
- Reconnect the power cord to the router, then wait for the Internet activity light to display a normal connected status.
- Turn on the printer.
- Turn on the mobile device/PC.
Could you please try these steps to connect the printer to the network (in case of dual-band routers, please use the 2.4 Ghz wireless connection for the printer): - Remove HP Smart App from your mobile device (if already installed).
- Press the Wireless button and the Cancel button from the printer control panel at the same time, and then hold them for three seconds.
- Download and install HP Smart App on your mobile device from the app store.
- Open HP Smart App and follow the onscreen instructions on the screen to connect the printer to a wireless network.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
