Hi,

I think my black cartdridge is empty as i can not print in black any more using black cartridge.

But printer shows that there is still enough black ink and no change of black cartridge is necessary. How can I force delivery of black cartridge?

My printer is HP 3830. I've also tried cleaning several times but I don't think that is the issue.
Clearly ran out of black ink and no way to let HP know that my printer needs a new black cartridge.

Can you help?
Thank you.

Hey! It definitely sounds like your black cartridge is empty even though the printer says otherwise pretty common issue with HP 3830. Unfortunately, HP doesn’t let you "force" a replacement if the system thinks there’s ink left.

Here’s what you can try:

  1. Take out the black cartridge, turn off the printer, unplug it for a minute, then plug it back in and reinsert the cartridge.

  2. If that doesn’t work, try installing a new black cartridge anyway-it should override the ink level reading once detected.

  3. Make sure your printer's firmware is updated. Sometimes outdated firmware causes incorrect ink level reporting.

If you're using Instant Ink, log into your HP account to report the issue, they’ll usually send a replacement if needed.

Hope that helps!
